Having trouble with image import. Status report is telling me "Import directory has not been configured.
The import directory must be configured and exist in order for the Image import module to function." Configured is a link. Click on it and am brought to site configuration page. What to do at this point? If I click on images and am brought to the images page. Click on image import and receive the error message "The directory /tmp/image does not exist." ????? Really confused. Anyone have any insight. I'm new to all of this.

go to administer -> file system
set the tmp file to sites/default/files (Rather than the server common tmp folder which is the default)
the tmp folder should create itself and the image directory should also create itself, otherwise there is a settings somewhere in the module in use that allows you to set the path.

Excellent! Something seemed to work. Thanks. Hopefully this will be just as easy. Status report says "ImageMagick image toolkit is not properly installed
The sites/all/modules/image/image.imagemagick.inc file must be copied to includes in order for the ImageMagick image toolkit to function." I see the image.imagemagick.inc file that it means but am confused as to where it wants it copied.

it wants it copied to the includes folder in drupal
you really need to read the readme.txt files and install.txt files that are packaged with modules. You need to spend some time familiarizing yourself with drupal core folder structure.
done, thank you! I've read
done, thank you! I've read all the text when I downloaded mods. It's overwhelming to try to remember it all, especially if this is all new. I appreciate your help.

leave it open on your screen and reread it when you have questions. Most times the questions are already answered. You don't have to remember it all at one time. Using drupal search and google search is also a good thing to do before asking questions on forums.
