Here is the patch I came up with. I tested it on my machine and it seemed to work just fine. If some other people could test it as well, that would be great. Then we can commit it.

This version of Filemanager is not supported anymore. The issue is closed for this reason.
Please upgrade to a supported version and feel free to reopen the issue on the new version if applicable.
