FTP and other file transfer mechanisms should also be a part of this page.

jhodgdonFilezilla is mentioned under Other Tools. Do you have suggestions for other FTP packages to include?

dgorton commentedApologies for the short ticket. This was suggested to me by Bryan Kennedy (http://drupal.org/user/9777) at the TCDocSprint as the room was closing up. I obviously didn't do the request justice.
I personally use FileZilla on a PC and CyberDuck on a Mac. I'm still adjusting to the Mac platform, though, so I don't know how solid a recommendation that might be.
Back in the day, I used to use WS_FTP, but that was a long time ago and I don't know what it's current status is (and how good/bad it might be as a recommendation). At work we don't use any of these, as we rely on a command-line deployment process with sitecopy and svn.
So - that's a long way of saying that I don't really know what all might be in an FTP section, or even if it truly is necessary. The issue arose from wanting to provide resources to beginners who might not be comfortable with the how-do-i-get-these-files-from-here-to-there question.
What do you think, though? Does it belong as a separate topic? Is it needed?

jhodgdonMy opinion: Until we have some more solid recommendations, let's leave things as they are. If we get to the point of having at least 2 or 3 solid FTP tool recommendations, then we probably ought to make them into a new section.

dgorton commentedFair enough. I'm going to drop this to a 'postponed' status accordingly. Perhaps it should just be closed, though, to clean up the queue a bit. Please close if you concur.

leehunter commentedI'm not terribly keen on generic Web development content that has no explicit connection to working with Drupal. It's one thing to have an article about configuring Dreamweaver to work with Drupal, it's another thing to duplicate what is already exhaustively covered elsewhere on the Internet re. standard tools and techniques for websites. It's really important that we keep our focus on the specifics of Drupal.
