The title of a weblink node should not necessarily be used as the "visit" text at the bottom of the page. Many times the descriptive title that I want to use in order to attract traffic would not make sense. For example...
Title: Free Email with POP3 and SMTP servers
Link: http://www.softhome.net
And I would want the bottom text to say "visit www.softhome.net" NOT "visit Free Email..."
Here's the actual page:
http://www.gunthersoft.com/reviews/websites/free_email
This is particularly critical when using the AdSense module, as Google's algorithm for determining target keywords weighs words in the title rather heavily.
Ideally I'd like to see THREE distinct data fields.
1) The node title
2) One-liner for the top 10 blocks
3) Text for the "visit..." line

Bèr Kessels commentedweblinks is no longer alive. It is replaced by links bundle: http://drupal.org/node/24719

kbrune commentedThanks for the heads-up. Unfortunately there are so many modules in 4.6 that I've had to tweak and customize, going to 4.7 is about as doable for me as writing my own CMS from scratch (which I could, if I won the lottery and didn't have to worry about things like earning a living). Sigh. One can always dream. Meanwhile it seems my best option is to dive into the weblinks code and tweak it myself.
If anybody else is still on 4.6 and is interested in progress, feel free to drop me a note.
