Hi all

I just installed Drupal and am finding my way into it.

I mainly wanted to use my site to link to a set of picture galleries that I will create using Google Picasa. So I'll upload each gallery to a seperate path on my server www.mysite.com/gallery1 www.mysite.com/gallery2 etc.

What I have done so far is created a new block on the right where I can create a link to each gallery. I can create the link, but is there way to make the new page appear within the Drupal structure ( a bit like frames).

I'm sure this has been asked about a million times but as I'm unfamiliar with the terminology, I'm not sure where to look.

I tried the URL alias thing but that only seems to work if each gallery was loaded as a subdirectory of the main drupal installation directory. Can I do this where I have loaded them elsewhere in a different directory branch to Drupal?

thanks

Have a look at the wgHTML module.

It needs better docs. If you or someone is interested, I can write them up. I've already committed to doing so, but haven't managed the time yet.

Let me know if you're going to give it a go, and if you need better docs, get my attention and I'll move faster.

Last night when I wrote I wasn't aware that Gallery2 had released the new version v2.1 (release candidate 1).

What's cool and relevant for you to perhaps consider is the picasa upload module; a feature I've been looking forward to for a long while. Previously it had to be installed from CVS, and was too much time and hassle for me. Now the module is part of the release, as of last night AFAIK.

Getting Gallery2 embedded inside of Drupal is rather complex, but it can be worth it. I'm using Dreamhost, and they have an automated installer for Gallery2 (but not Drupal).

The way I managed to setup mine, with the Dreamhost semi-automatic installer is as follows:

Carefully plan the directory structure of the website. Keep all aspects of Gallery2 *inside* of the Drupal folder, so if Drupal is in the webroot, then: www.example.com/gallery_installation_folder.

I use the Dreamhost installer for Gallery2 install into that folder, then get it working 100%, and then Leave it Alone.

THEN I install Drupal in the folder above it.

Why Drupal last? Because in Drupal's base directory is an .htaccess file that will completely confuse the Gallery2 installation process and function, since it is one level lower, and has its own Byzantine collection .htaccess.

If this tip is helpful for you and you (or anyone else) uses Dreamhost as a result, when you use that link, I'll send the referral fee to Drupal.org.

Thanks for that, I've used Gallery 1 before but not G2 so I may give that a go, but if wgHTML will allow me just to upload my picassa exported galleries to a directory under my drupal root then this would be even easier so if there is any chance of more documentation that would be great.

Thanks

OK, I've installed wgHTML done all the things in the readme file activated the module in Drupal, but I can't see how to make use of it in the admin module.

Any help you can give?

I'll try to do an install on my side asap (in the next day or two) and write the doc. I hope you can be patient for that, and me. I'm trying.

But that's also what my mother always says to me, which isn't really helpful. ;-)

Well, I spent a heavy-duty chunk o' time on wgHTML for my own purposes, and I finished very disappointed.

I'm going to try the Import HTML module soon and see if I fare better.

When I tried both about 5 months ago, wgHTML seemed to be the better developed. Now it seems Import HTML has been improved so I'm going to try that and hope it works better.
