Issue Summary

The og mandatory group settings box only shows options for "none" and six of the groups on the site. Fortunately the group I needed to set as mandatory was at the top so I was able to go ahead and use it. But, a scrolling selection box would be nice.

On registration the group name is displayed and checked but grayed out. Great.

I was also wondering about trying http://drupal.org/project/og_multiple_mandatory_groups_by_role but it has not been updated recently and did not appear to work for me.

Hi - I apologize for this issue being ancient with no reply, but are you still having this issue with the latest version of the code?

Yes, we're using 6.x01.0-beta1 from 2008-09-06
It's been awhile since I looked at this issue as it did not prevent us from using the module.
Looking at the issue now with fresh eyes I see the module readme.txt file says:

You can chose either an open or a closed group. Any new user will be auto-approved as member of the group.

This explains why the "Choose the mandatory group" list does not show all groups on the site and may clarify the issue I was experiencing. As such whether it is a list with radio buttons or a scrolling list is not the real issue.

I have changed the issue category to "support request" and it could be closed.

It might be helpful if the admin UI includes a note such as "(only open and closed groups)"

Aha, that makes sense. I'll update that UI text to be more clear; thanks for this suggestion. I'll update this issue as soon as the change gets rolled in.
