I have not yet seen a post about how to aggregate RSS feeds that bothers to mention that in most cases you can NOT just start using someone else's feed on your web site without permission of the feed owner. Always check the owner's website for information on their RSS Feeds. Most commercial sources (CNN, etc) specifically state on their websites that their RSS feeds are for personal, individual use only - any use on websites, etc has to be authorized by them in writing.
Don't get sued because you didn't check - using feeds on your site without permission is copyright infringement in many cases. Just because Drupal makes it easy to do it doesn't mean it's LEGAL.

Thanks for the info
Thanks for the info. Something like this should probably be on the aggregator page so people don't do it. I'd hate for drupal users to start getting in trouble.
You should write up a child page to this page.

What type of feeds?
I don't really think that any site will sue a webmaster of a smaller site just for displaying their feeds. I'm talking about feeds that display just the titles of the news (this is what usually happens) and not integral version of articles and news.
If we consider how many times tv channels around the world mention or even go on air with breaking news that come from CNN. They only avoid to show cnn's images.
So, no need to worry that much, but you are right about the rest and I agree. Keeping everything legal today has become some kind of art.
i agree with Mike B
but saying that I know of people who have been reprimanded for using feeds in their completion. This can come about as the feed creator doesn't put an appropriate break in their feed but all the same they probably do have a point.
Does anyone know of an easy way to shorten feeds displayed on your sit to avoid these problems. I guess the ideal situation would be all feeds showing teaser and opening in new window, this way everyone wins, can anyone help?
Thanks
