'required' bd_video fields don't pass validation

When I upload a video to a BDV field, all I get is a "You need add a video." error with both "Acquire from URL:" and "Acquire from filepath:" highlighted as error fields.

Steps taken to install:
1) Installed required modules, and already have working FFmpeg install supportive of desired video format.
2) Followed simple setup tutorial
3) Ensured storage container has proper permissions
4) Mimedetect is set to use the UNIX file binary (it's location is correct and working)]
5) Video is NOT exceeding PHP's file upload limit.

I've had this same issue happen to me on another server entirely -- both are FreeBSD servers of different major versions.
