If for some reason the image file is missing, lightbox just hangs there with spinning wheel. It never times out.
User is able to close the lightbox though. Opening that link without lightbox returns regular Drupal "page not found". I guess lightbox does not treat "page not found" properly.
Desired behaviors:
- process "page not found" properly
- timeout if server does not respond
- error message in the lightbox

stella commentedHmmmm it shouldn't. Lightbox2 will display a broken image icon (custom one) if the image can't be found.
What sort of images are you trying to load (e.g. imagefield, image module one, etc)?
Can you provide me with a link to your site where this happens? My contact form is enabled if you wish to do so privately.

iva2k commentedIt is happening with regular ".jpg".
Maybe there is more going on there... I just tried the same page in Firefox, and the broken image indeed came up.
So the problem is with Google Chrome. Try qphy.org/node/5. I removed the file from the server by hand.

stella commentedBut how are the images added to the site? Is it using CCK's imagefield, Image module, Embedded Media Field, etc? What's the module used?
iva2k commentedI use image+upload+image_upload. Image_upload creates image nodes. So in lightbox I enable automatic > image node settings > lightbox grouped / preview / trigger on thumbnail, and image_upload is set to display thumbnails.
One more thing I noticed that upload_image does not create .preview image. It may have something to do with it.
I added one more image to node/5 there, now not deleting the uploaded file, so there are two thumbnails broken and good. The nodes for the uploaded images are 9 and 10. Let me know if you need more info.

honorfield commentedI still experience the same issue with jQuery Update 6.x-2.x-dev and Lightbox2 6.x-1.9.
tymoski commentedI experience this issue using CCK and Imagecache (Drupal 5.21, MySQL database 5.0.77 and PHP 5.1.6).
