can views create a total amount of a certain content

im trying to create a block that lists how much of a certain content type has been created but doesnt actually list any of the content, with a link to a page view.

Ive created the page view, its creating a link that displays the total amount that i have no idea with.

I just want
User has posted x amount of content1
that links to user/%/content1

can I do this in views?
