Video pay per view that allow only one time view. how can i do that?

hi guys,

I am trying to build a pay per view website but with a twist. the website will be so that the user pay to view the video (one time)
he can pause the video, but after he has watched the entire video he will need to pay to watch it again.

or a system like megavideo.com where they give you 72 minutes of free videos, if you want more you have to pay, or wait 52 minute to be able to view the video.

please give me some guidance on how to approach it. I may even be willing to pay if you can assist me in building that site.

my solution for your case:

True pay per minute
------------------------

no matter the user is watching the first part or end part of a video, no matter he is re-playing, the site will deduce (say) 1 user points when the video player plays (say) 1 minute.

* of course, the rate is up to your decision.
** the rate may be by video

what u need is a Smart Video Player and the userpoints system in your site.

PS: u may even setup the smart video player as follows: first 30 sec of a video is FREE for trial watch.

could you be able to design a system like that?
if yes how much will you charge for it?

and, details of your requirement.
and, I will only make the system works ..whether may make $ or not is NOT included.

my friendly advance..think and re-think if your user will be happy to use the system before u invest your $ to build it.

back to the pay-by-min video player:
1. where are the videos hosted? in your site? or 3rd party, like youtube?
2. what features are needed in the player? subtitle? HD? playlist?
3. commission based? will the site allows users to upload videos and earn from other users? the drupal site may earn commission in this case.

mm167, I am working on something like this as well. I am PLANNING a site that reg. users can buy a time block, watch a movie online, or buy the DVD. I see you are talking about the time block here. I will be using D6 and ubercart as a shopping cart.

I have a T1 line (18 channels going to servers) and a good linux red hat server (for this project). Dual processor, 16Gb memory, 4TB HDD space.

I own all my videos.

Answers to your questions.
1. I am hosting all my video files.
2. I realy dont need any other functions. I record in HD if that makes a difference.
3. Users will not by allowed to add videos to my site.

Can you give me some more details on the setup and maintenance.
