Is there any way to do that?
I'm using "Comment notify" module with Forum module.
It will be very usable to show "Notify me" checkbox on new topic creation page as it is on new comment creation form.
Also all registered users have disabled "notify me about comments on my posts" option by default.
So I have to inform them they should enable it in their profiles.
I guess it would be nice if this option should be available per node but not in user profile.

I think this is a duplicate of #328583: a node author to unsubscribe from notification on a per-node basis.
Basically, neither notification nor unsubscribing to/from a specific node is a good fit for this really lightweight module.
