Node Counts (Statistics) Not always updating D6

Just updated a website from D5.6 to D6.12, in D5.6 statistics worked fine

In D5 we had Global Redirect and a handfull of URL Aliases

In D6 we have added Path Auto, Path Redirect

Nodes of content type "Page" appear to be updating

I have one content type where pre update nodes are displaying the pre-update count, but not increasing. New nodes of the same type are not counting, nor displaying, but as they are new there is zero count

These nodes have aliases created by Path Auto

If i access the node via www.mydomain.com/node/nid the count increases

Anyone know where i shoudl start? It appears to relate to the alias, and none core content types.

Anyone encountered this? any suggestions where to start?
