Can you provide a concrete example of how to use this module? Are any other modules using this as an API?

This module was used for an internal project; apart from that I don't know any other modules depending on this. There's also the table_wizard.module which seems to do something very similiar (I couldn't find it back then when I originally wrote this module).

Drupal 6 version not longer supported. For Drupal 7 read the description and use it.
