Images won't display

lonjett - June 27, 2009 - 14:14

Hello, I'm another newbie trying to climb the Drupal learning mountain. I am using version 6.12 with the Bluemarine template. I want to create a page that will display when someone enters my web site. I want this page to have images on it. Try as I may I cannot get the page to display correctly. Url is http://jpcrazy.com.

I would appreciate any help. Please don't suggest searching in the forum, I have already spent hours searching.

Thanks
Lon Jett

You'll have to provide more info before anyone can help you. What are you trying to do? What have you tried? What's not displaying the way you want? I clicked on the link and the page opens fine...

Please try image picker

charan.adodis - June 29, 2009 - 06:18

Please try image picker module where you can upload your photos and those photos will be displayed in to the page , or also you shall try album photos module where you can choose the path while configuration ,and all your upload images will only stored in that, and here those album will be available as a content and thus you can display it alone in any page

images won't display

lonjett - July 3, 2009 - 14:01

Hello and thank you for your response. Since my original post I have tried several different avenues and modules. When I try to configure the image module I get directory does not exist even if I use the default. I finally created a separate image directory and just copy the path to the images when I insert an image. This works for now, I will have to see what happens when I create and configure the store.

Go to "Site

seanray - July 3, 2009 - 14:24

Go to "Site Configuration"->"Input Format".
Click the "Configure" align with "Filter HTML", and then click "Configure" tab again, in the new page, You can see "Allowed HTML Tags" parameter, you need to add to the list.

images still won't display

lonjett - July 4, 2009 - 23:18

Seanray;

I tried the "Input Format" and it is still not working. Here is what I am doing: In site config - images -module - files sizes - "default path" I have entered every variation I can think of. This is the actual path: /hermes/bosweb/web012/b122/sl.lonjett/public_html/drupal/images

In the image import tap- import path I entered: "images" and get "Your settings are configured correctly, you can import images here." Here being: /hermes/bosweb/web012/b122/sl.lonjett/public_html/drupal/images

Where do I have to go to make the default path "images"

Quotes are mine
I appreciate any direction I get

can you direct me to your

seanray - July 6, 2009 - 06:36

can you direct me to your drupal site? There should be only 2 reasons for the issue:
1. You image URL is set wrong.
2. tag is not support in your Filter HTML.

thanks,
ray.

i think

m13 - July 6, 2009 - 09:26

your image url is wrong.

try /images solely

and place images into "/drupal/sites/default/files/images"

Hello Seanray, I tried so many different things to make it work I finally broke it. I have been trying to make a new install of Drupal 6.13. and keep getting a page error (404,500). I finally removed everything including the database and at this moment going to try to complete my mission. If you hear an explosion it will be my computer.

I continue to have problems. I have changes host servers, started with a clean install, downloaded and installed image module with the additional components image attach, gallery, import magik advanced options. I am using fckeditor.
In site config/file sizes the path is: sites/default/files/images, error message "directory does not exist." I checked it is there. and it is recognized by the image import tab. Also checked to make sure dictories have write privileges. I have tried to create new directories with no sucess. My only soultion is to manually upload to the images directory and insert in to the content by typing the url.

Is there some configuration I need to do in the database, .htacess file or what?

Thanks for any suggestions.

It's oftentimes hard to do

nwwoman - July 8, 2009 - 16:56

It's oftentimes hard to do debugging by online messaging so forgive me for asking what might seem to you to be a stupid question. I just want to make sure we're clear.

*You wrote: "My only soultion is to manually upload to the images directory and insert in to the content by typing the url."

1. If you manually put an gif/jpeg/png into the sites/default/files/images folder and then link to it with an img tag in your node (story or page content-type), does the image display?
2. If it does not display, what does the watchdog log say (reports/recent log entries)?

*You wrote: "In site config/file sizes the path is: sites/default/files/images, error message 'directory does not exist.' "
1. Did you mistype? Do you mean: admin/settings/file-system which is also the same as site configuration/file-system in the nav menu of the admin gui?

*Input Format
which input format are you using?
If it's filtered, double-check to make sure that the image file types you are using are cited in the accepted html tags

Resolved-uploading an image

t2u_drupal - July 9, 2009 - 10:32

Hi,

I just resolved the problem, so why not to share it with you:

For instance, if you want to create a page and want to upload an image for this content, just follow this steps:

Pls go to: Administer, Content types, under operations chose edit (if you want to edit a page) and then click over Node images and check the box you want the image will be positioned. Finlay don't forget to save your content type.

I hope these steps will be useful for you!

Hello nwwoman, I thought I had the problem fixed by doing a complete reinstall for drupal 6.13 and the fckeditor and image modules. I have followed the directions in the read me files to the letter several times. I have configured and re configured so many times I can't remember what the original settings were.
I installed Drupal through symlink on Bluehost.com. Everything went fine. I then installed the FCKeditor and image modules following the read me text files in the sites/all/modules directory. When I create content the editor opens and I am able to create and publish the page. When I insert an image the image properties window opens and in type in the url of the image in want to insert. A small icon is displayed in the page but no image. When I switch to view the source I can see the html code for the image path. When I save and publish or view the page the image does not show. I can rt click and view the source code and see the image path.

I have spent so many hours on this one problem it isn't funny. Is there another way to create content with images than the way I'm doing it now.

again images

t2u_drupal - July 14, 2009 - 16:35

Hi lonjett,

Here is the better way to display images step by step:

1- Install and enable ImageAPI, FileField, ImageField, and ImageCache.

2- Add an image field to your content type.

3- Add (or confirm) your ImageCache presets

4- Change the "Display fields" setting on your content type

5- Test, as needed.

Good luck :)

Thank you for the hep. I commandeered the services of a friend and we got in going last night. Today I'm having trouble with the menus. Slowly putting the pieces together.
