Any easy inline image options & editor for 6.12?

I have tried virtually every module I can find, viewed the instructional videos, etc. and just cannot get a simple inline image system that resizes automatically to work. I just want users to be able to click a button, enter an image, and have it resized to my specifications, without the user needing to adjust things. If an image is 1024x768, I want it to be rescaled (or resized) to 400x? Is this too much to expect?

I can't get img_assist to even function correctly. It pops up a window that is divided into two frames, the top one so narrow you can't see the buttons and the lower frame is blank. This happens with Chrome and Firefox 3. In IE6, you can at least see things but if you try to upload a file, you see the body post of the Drupal site, not the image.

Here are screen shots with each browser:

(Firefox) http://bf1942.ath.cx/images/img_firefox.jpg

(IE6) http://bf1942.ath.cx/images/img_ie6.jpg

For editing and image uploading, I have tried img_assist, IMCE, wysiwyg, TinyMCE, fckeditor, nicedit, openwysiwyg, YUI, filefield, filefield_insert, image_resize_filter, bueditor, etc. I mention these for the purpose of showing I have researched many things. I have spent most of two days trying to solve this.

As the subject title indicates, I am using Drupal 6.12.

i too have tried, but not able to find a simple and easy "inline" image uploading module with resizing option.
But found a module with simple and easiness, specifically for uploading images by users.
