The Media module has many good ideas for how to work with audio files in Drupal. It was never polished enough to be really useful, but is full of interesting code.

The Filesystem Backup module tars and mails you the files in your installation (including those that get uploaded via the UI) on cron runs. It has limits for file size and the number of files to include in each chunk so that reasonable size limits are observed. If you then unpack the all of the tars that you receive over time, you have an up-to-date copy of your installation. This is meant for people who have no other reasonable automated backup strategy.

Both of these modules will no longer be maintained by me and are in need of others to step up to maintain them. Please contact me if you are interested in taking one or both of them.

I wouldn't mind taking on FBU Robert, I wouldn't be able to do much with it for the next month or so (other projects), but after that I'd certainly be able to update it for 4.7 and extend its functionality (if required).

Many thanks to Richard Orris (rorris) and Nathan Briggs (vigo) who are the new maintainers of the media and fbu modules, respectively.
