I am new to organic groups and need help with a basic requirement. I want to limit the ability of my users to create a specific content type created in CCK, and marked as "Standard group post (typically only author may edit). " They should only be able to do this to organic groups that they belong to. Please advise, thank you.

You need to use the Organic Groups User Roles module. Create a role that can only create your group post content type. (Ex. Event)
Go to your organic group, and give that user that the new role. That role will only apply to the user in that group.
