Delete Folders within File Browser

I created a folder within the built-in filebrowser that I would like to delete. There is no delete folder button within the browser, and when I navigate by FTP to the path filebrowser is using the folder structure isn't there (sites/default/files)
Am I missing some setting or option?

It is strange that there is nothing in sites/default/files. Are you sure that that is the right folder? I guess it would be something like sites/YOURHOSTNAME/files. There is no delete option in the default file browser, you could try IMCE or another external file browser as a replacement.
