FeedAPI + images

Hi all,
I'm running D6, wanting to run a digg like site with images.
I'm trying to import images into my nodes from rss feeds without much success.
I did set up a 'myfeed' cck type with both (just in case) an imagefield and an embedded image field... (leaving out the 'is feed content type' as advocated here http://drupal.org/node/326606 )
i set up my feed api to accept all html tags, set my contents to full html...
I would like to import images from this feed, very image rich : http://www.parismatch.com/rss/feed/culture-match.rss
any recommendation if i should use simplepie over common syndication parser ?
any idea as to what could possibly go wrong ?
any idea as how i could map a source that is not defined by feedapi mapper by default ?

(I have come across the imagegrabber module, great one, but not what i need unfortunately)
