Creating Content Types and Styles and Formatting

lloowen - June 30, 2009 - 22:34

Hello,

I'm trying to figure out how one can create a content type and be able to adjust the overal layout in terms of centering a header or influencing the size of text, links etc.
I know that I could do this by installing and configuring fckeditor, but when one could be entering a lot of content that needs to have the same formatting, there's a danger that using the fckeditor could lead to inconsistiencies.

But is it possible to create a content type that has all the formats set so that every input field is pre formatted? That way when content is being added it will appear exactly where one would like to see it on the page. I've noticed that when I create a content type, every thing is left justified.

I wanted to create a template that would allow me to enter a centered heading, in a specific size, weight and colour.
I have the cck email module incorporated into the content type as well as other cck modules and input for embedded media, but everything is left justified when viewed.

Thanks for any help,

lloowen

I believe with panels you can do this sort of thing. I have not used it yet.

Also views for sure can do something similiar to this.

... you need to read the documentation, or if that's confusing, buy a book. Creating a content type is not hard, but it doesn't give you an output template. If you want to control the display of fields, create one. Templating for content types is pretty straightforward.

If you want to control the display of fields, create one.

How do you do that!!?? I can create fields but controlling where they sit on the page is not so easy.

Templating for content types is pretty straightforward.

Again how do you do that or please reffer me to where I can find out more... I have not had much luck finding any way of being able to controll where fields sit in the page. I tried to do this through views but again, there seems to be no option for basic formatting of content, such as centering, text size, text weight and colour. I really don't want to opt for using the fckeditor to do this.

Thanks again
