I wonder if you would consider combining this module with the unmaintained blog_list module as suggested here http://drupal.org/node/235095

The code for D6 can be found here http://drupal.org/node/372153#comment-1517578 (I've tested it and it works fine)

The combining of these modules should be a trivial task.

I think this went into http://drupal.org/project/advanced_blog while I was away, if there still exists a need for this special combination ring the bell!
