Does anyone know of a menu module similar to simple menu that loads on the left side rather than the top. Thanks in advance.

Core comes with the menu
Core comes with the menu module which allows you to add new menus and add items to that menu. When adding a new menu you will need to enable the block for the new menu before it will show.

I'm trying to get a menu that allows me to make multiple galleria and list them under one heading that shows as a drop down menu. simplemenu lets me do that but it is located on the top, ideally I would like to have this on the left side. Much of this is foreign to me so bear with me. Thanks.
There is the Nice Menus
There is the Nice Menus module (and others) that might work for you though normally menus in the sidebar "fly out" instead of drop down.
