Every time I upload a video and save the node, the video will not show up

For some reason in my browsers, I cannot get uploaded videos to show up in their node. Only Youtube videos work and we don't want to use Youtube for this site. I have attached two screenshots. In Firefox I get a "Your browser is not able to display this multimedia content." and on Safari, I get a white area where the video should be. The video I'm trying to upload is an FLV file. I have no other screen warnings. I don't understand but I really really need this to work. Please help.

I downloaded the flow player but it downloaded as a dmg file(Because I'm on a Mac). Did I download the wrong thing?
