If you enable attache images to a contenttype, the choise "Attached Images" apears even if the user don't have the permission to create images. The user cant upload a image, but he can attach an existing image. It should be possible to turn of this editing field on role basis, as modules normaly works. In fact the "create image node" and the "attach image to node" should be seperated permissions.

Sounds sensible enough on the face of it.
It's good to know that there is an option to attach existing images even if you can't add new ones. There's a place for that feature.
