How do I put a story and a forum topic (or forum container, if possible) linked to it on one page?

Comments

Hey,

Not sure if this is similar, but i'm looking for some code to do the following:

When i add a story (news article), I would like drupal to automatically create a new topic in the forum so that users can discuss the story in the forums rather than using the commenting system.

Presumably when adding a story, there would need to be some sort of select from a list to choose which category in the forums that the story should be linked to.

I'd also be very interested in something similar with my News posts (forum threads, not comments).

I'd also like Events (which, mostly, work as expected, using Flexinode) to appear in my "Events Forum" for discussion as forum threads, instead of having individual Comments.

I'm not a fan of Comments in general and mostly disable them elsewhere, prefer all discussions to take place centrally.

Means that people can see if there are any comments for more than one Event at a glance, for example. And for discussions about "possible" events and "actual" events to be in the same place. ...does this make sense? :)

Makes sense to me. With previous content management systems I have found that some users will add comments to the news story, but then others will create a discussion in the forums.

This means that users are having to look in two places for discussion about the same topic. It would be great if you can create a news story and then it would automatically create a topic with the same name in the discussion forums and provide a link automatically from the news story.

Ok, you could do this with a taxonomy category.

You just create a catgegory, say that it can have story and forum topics in it.

Then when you create a story, select the category you want it to be in.
And the same with a forum topic.

The page with them both on will be at http://yoursite.com/taxonomy/term/yourtermnumber

replace yourtermnumber with the correct taxonmy term id.

you could write a clean url for usability.

Does that help?
