Cumulus tag clouds, OG, and nodes users can't see

I'm experimenting with using this module on a site that has private organic groups. Like many taxonomy related projects, I can't figure out how to get cumulus to first check if a user has access to a node before building the tag cloud.

So the result is that there are tags in the cloud that lead users to pages that say "There are currently no posts in this category."

Is there a way to get cumulus to check in with OG (or somesuch) to make sure it is building a cloud based on the nodes a user can see?
