Freezes at top of screen while page is loading

Issue Summary

I'm using the D6 version and find that while the page containing a ticker is loading, the ticker appears at the top of the screen and freezes there until the page is done. Then it relocates vertically down the screen to its final location. Unfortunately this behavior obscures my site logo for about 3-5 seconds, which isn't good for that important first impression.

Can anyone patch this to either a) be invisible until the page has finished loading, or b) load somewhere other than the top of the screen (e.g. at the bottom of the screen, or at its final location).
