I installed Node Gallery, but was unable to create a gallery; only individual image nodes.
Thus, I disabled Node Gallery, then uninstalled it from Administer/Modules, and then removed the node_gallery directory from sites/all/modules.
However, "Gallery (Node Gallery)" still shows up in my Navigation/Create Content menu, and under the permissions for the "node" module, I still have entries such as "edit own node_gallery_gallery content".
Is there a way to completely remove the Node Gallery completely?

You probably have a content type remaining at admin/content/types -- just delete it.

Removed it from the Content types. It is gone from the permissions, but is still in the navigation menu. I also removed the presets from imageCache. I really don't want to have to reinstall drupal and start re-creating my content from scratch, but if I have to, I will.

You shouldn't have to-- try clearing the cache (admin/settings/performance) and check for menu items at admin/build/menu.

Cleared cache; menu items are still there. Should I re-install the module and then see if I can uninstall it again?

The menu items give me the choice to "edit" or "reset," but not "delete". Bummer! I can disable the items, but it feels so morally impure :)

Node gallery is set up not to remove the custom content types... needs to be done manually. I think that way you won't lose the content if you remove the modules.
