I am registered as an author in a new Drupal based site (I lack any web dev experience). I made content changes to a page and now would like to revert to the earlier version.
I am unable to find out how. I looked for various menu options, even got admin access and checked out admin menus on my Drupal installation. I searched on drupal.org's discussion fora & online handbooks. I am still unable to find an answer.
Can anybody tell me how to view revisions of a page and revert to earlier content ?

Depends.
If you're authoring nodes of type "book" then revisions are being kept, but they're most likely admin-only accessible. You'd need to get an admin to perform the rollback.
Google cache
If that doesn't work for you, it may be worth checking to see if Google has a cached version of the page that you can copy and paste back in.
Just do a search for cache:http://your.site/node/whatever
