I have looked at both http://drupal.org/node/376024 and http://drupal.org/node/278368 and I have looked for other issues but am not finding the same problem.

I got the following error - Duplicate entry 'regional_groups/alamosa/feed-' for key 2 query: UPDATE url_alias SET src = 'node/31/feed', dst = 'regional_groups/alamosa/feed', language = '' WHERE pid = 98 in /home/drupal/modules/path/path.module on line 100.

and so per 376024 I updated to the dev release of Pathauto. Now I get an error "Validation error, please try again. If this error persists, please contact the site administrator." when I try and update the alias.

Got the same problem as well , suddently it did stop working ...
I m adding aliases for chinese translations of my nodes but I did removed all the weird characters.

If only that message were more useful , telling were the validation error is.

What happens to you when you just save without any change ?

I was able to get around this by deleting all the existing aliases. This was a new site so this was not a problem for me. It would be a problem on an established sites.
