Slashdot / Digg / Reddit-style news aggregator?

Like it says on the package! Can Drupal be used to create a user-submitted and -moderated news/story site? If so, what modules will be needed? And what are the advantages / disadvantages of using this approach, if anyone knows! Many thanks!
