4.7 readiness of contrib modules

yktdan - February 23, 2006 - 02:16

I have been going thru the modules listed in cvs and loading and testing them on cvs build (only the ones I have some interest in). This is a work in progress. No obvious core bugs yet, but have not used many features yet. Hopefully these tests won't show any new core bugs.

article - not converted yet (there is patch waiting to be accepted - not tested)
node_privacy_byrole - does not work out of download, but does if you use the module in cvs.drupal.org
badbehavior - appears to work (hard to test)
captcha - ok
controlpanel - ok
event - ok
flexinode - ok
fontsize - missing from download, but 4.6 one works
tinymce - not working, don't know why yet

The latest TinyMCE in CVS

m3avrck - February 23, 2006 - 02:27

The latest TinyMCE in CVS *works* with 4.7, I've been maintaining that along with all of the updates. It has *not* been released as a 4.7 module yet however, that is coming very soon.

where is it now?

I want to test it. My users understand it and not the more primative facilities.

Need to create an input format

KSA213755 - February 23, 2006 - 04:52

When I installed TinyMCE it showed up when creating content, but the published pages weren't formatted properly. I discovered in the Readme file that it was necessary to create an input format the didn't apply any filters. Then the new input format has to be made available to the users roles who will use TinyMCE. That fixed the problem for me.

However, I'm wondering if it's always necessary to create a new input format or if that's just needed in partiuclar circumstances. If it's always needed (or frequently needed), it would be helpful if that information were posted on the download page for the module to make it more visible.

I have not fully configured it yet but I am making progress. It was getting messages about failing database queries after enabling the module. The zip file has both .mysql and .install files. It should have one or the other. The module does not seem to use the .install file. Running the .mysql file fixed the failing queries.

Fontsize is abandoned by

Fontsize is abandoned by me.

If you must have this then it is highly recomended to put it right in the theme. If you have proper CSS the browser should take care of all resizing users need.

aging user population

yktdan - February 23, 2006 - 03:10

My users find it convenient and it is on screen instead of a pulldown menu item. They are accustomed to the pulldown not working for many sites so they don't think to try it.

There is low likelyhood of it not porting from release to release so I can just keep it.

Hi,

I will be willing to take over maintainership of fontsize if there is a use for it.

get a javascript error on IE on creating a new event
document.getElementById("edit-start_minute_all_day") is null or not an object
in eventAllDayAutoAttach

No error in FireFox

event_all_day

moshe weitzman - February 23, 2006 - 05:45

thats the fault of event_all_day module not repeat. disable that one if you wish.

Nice idea

leafish_paul - March 1, 2006 - 13:31

... for a quick reference of 4.7-compatible modules (and ones that could possibly be tagged for 4.7 now). Any chance the list could be maintained in the node, rather than in comments? That would make it a lot nicer to read/check.
