I am looking to have a view that has a listing of nodes appear as if they were to appear on "published to front page" . Like having all of the postings filtered by a taxonomy term or their ranking, but still appear in the traditional node teaster format.
i cant seem to get anything close to that with views. i can just get lists or tables basically.

When you select the "node" row style (in the basic settings box) you can choose to show teasers just like on the front page. In fact, views includes a view called "frontpage" that mimics the front page and can be altered as desired.
