Cant get Wysiwyg module to work

stephanbauer - July 3, 2009 - 14:53

Hi there,

I just wanted to try some Wysiwyg editors so I downloaded and activatet the Wysiwyg API module.
Afterwards I opened the configuration and followed the installation instructions with TinyMCE (2.6.4) and FCKeditor (3.2.5).
I still have only the two default filters and set TinyMCE to be the editor for both, clicked on edit, set some buttons, checked in basic setup that its enabled and saved them.
So I created a new page but there was no editor. I tried the same with FCK and also tried the dev version but it still didn't work.

Have I missed a step or what else could cause it to not appear?

Here's a sort summary:
- Wysiwyg module installed
- TinyMCE (and FCK) installed (green check mark on configuration page)
- default format: Filtered HTML
- TinyMCE set for Filtered HTML
- Buttons checked and saved
- Creating new page (Filtered HTML selected by default)
- No editor.
Edit: - FCKeditor was installed and running before I tried Wysiwyg

Thanks in advance
sb

Caused by FCKeditor module?

stephanbauer - July 5, 2009 - 00:46

Hi again,

I made a new site in this drupal installation and was able to use TinyMCE with the Wysiwyg module.
But I still can't get it to work on my main site. I had the FCKeditor module installed and running before I tried Wysiwyg so maybe this is the problem. But I deleted all profiles, removed the permissions and deactivated FCK.
Any ideas?

I like using fckeditor

Hi, I like using the fckeditor, just make sure you follow the install steps in the read me document that comes with the module. You need to download the fckeditor module and the fckeditor project web site http://www.fckeditor.net/.

It should work, I had a bunch of problems trying to get tinymce to work.

Good luck

I had FCK running but I like this easy configuration you get with Wysiwyg.
