Create Content

Please help. I'm a newbie!

I've successfully installed Drupal and want to start creating content. However, when I click on create content there are no options at all. Have I done something wrong?

I'm using a local server with MAMP.

check administer -> modules

the node.module should have been installed at installation of core.
