Description
blocked http://drupal.org/user/263305 for link spam -- 25+ links on old threads in 2 hrs is enough imo.

link spam posts removed. I left the posts where the user once resemebled a community member before going on a link spam journey on closed issues, book pages and forum topics.
#2
wow that was fast-- thanks VM ;-)

Hi,
I realised that I was blocked, and my posts have been labelled as a link spam.
Firstly, I want to say that I didn't know by sharing a new way of solving an existing and persistent problem in this way would be labelled as spam. My project is a voluntary one, and to help everyone out here, who faces the same problem like I do, to approach the issue in another way. It is meant to be a community based, and to aid us spend lesser time on web development. This, I thought, is in tune with what Drupal forum aims to be - to help.
Secondly, I have to create another account just to add this comment. So, pardon for creating another account for the same individual, because Drupal has mentioned we cannot do that. But without creating another account, I'm unable to explain my situation.
Thirdly, I have seen posts which also links to other sites for information, and to share with others a technique to resolve the issue. May I ask then how I might be able to post without being labelled as a spammer? If I have caused any inconvenience, I apologise. I truly just want to contribute back to the community. I had joined Drupal a year plus back, and my questions were mostly answered. I'm happy to be a Drupal user, and this is just one of my ways to say thanks.

A) one post would have been enough, you could have created a documentation page.
B) droping the link on outdated forums threads and closed issues is pointless.
I'll unblock you, but in future please treat drupal.org as you would treat you own site. If someome came on your site and started mass commenting the same comment to stuff that is years old you'd raise an eyebrow as well.

http://drupal.org/user/263305 = thepiano is now unblocked.
#6
Hi,
Thank you for your advice.
Can you point me to the right place to create such a documentation page you mentioned, in case I got it incorrectly done again?
#7
find some place in themeing snippets or some area in themeing as it has to do with themeing.
place a link to the page here when complete and I'll take a look.
Secondary account has been blocked. thepiano79

I placed one here.

Comment deleted!
That is an issue for the panels.module which has its own method for rounded corners. If you want to do something for the community create a book page in the themeing section of the documentation area!
Do NOT place it as a comment to existing issues in drupal.module or as forum threads.
I'm closing this issue, when you follow the direction give, feel free to reopen this issue.

Hi,
My project deals with Panels styles as well. I do not think I have placed it at the wrong place. The users can download panel styles from my site, and use it together with the Panels module. This is in tune with that the thread is about - Panel Styles. The users had asked ways to make their own styles. I placed a comment that provides them an alternative solution.
My project helps both the normal html user and drupal Panels user.
I will be creating another book page, as you mentioned, in the themeing section. I'm working on that right now. When I had posted, I will keep you informed.

The point is that issues get closed and are difficult to find. Book pages are where documentation should be placed.
#12
You missed my point.
I am really just putting a comment under that thread; it's not a documentation that I put there. Everyone has the freedom to put comments, and I want to ask this: Why am I forbidden to put comments, and why am I subjected to such censorship? I see throughout the whole Drupal threads that everyone is allowed to put comments, and even in the comments, a link to an external website relevant to the discussion.
I reiterate that I will be putting the actual documentation in the themeing section, as a book page, like you mentioned.

you're missing the point. Issues that are closed are closed. It's merely a matter of placing the comment in a proper area. Start a NEW issue in panels if you want. Reopening old issues (February 2008) or posting your comments to closed issues (February 2008) with documentation in your comment isn't fruitful.
The reason you are being watched at this point is because you were pasting your comment to multiple threads (25) and closed issues over a span of a few hours. That is what got your account blocked and your original comments deleted.
The last comment was deleted because you posted it to a closed issue that has been closed for months.
This isn't censorship it's merely guidance as to where the information you are posting will do the most good. Which isn't in closed issues.

Let me phrase your words in another way to see if I have understood your point.
I am allowed to post any number of comments (content can contain links to external websites), as long as the comments' content are relevant to the topics/issues under which I posted the comments, and the topics/issues are opened.
Long documentation belongs to book pages. But my comments can go under opened issues.
#16
any # of comments? no, this will be viewed as spamming just as it was before. however, if you create a documentation page, and link to it? then it's likely to be viewed as helping the community.
#17
Wow you're so overcomplicating this. Posting the same content multiple times is spam (on any forum, not just drupal.org). Posting on old threads or closed issues is also likely spam (again, on any forum, not just drupal.org).
If you have a howto you think the community would appreciate create a book page with that content -- if it's nothing but a pointer to another site then it will be removed (handbook pages are not usually the appropriate place to advertise to external sites though videos/screencasts are usually hosted elsewhere and linked to).
If you want people to see a link participate in the forums by actually assisting other people (as opposed to posting meaningless content) and put it in your signature.
Common sense, plain and simple.

See his tracker and search for his last message on issues.
