cant access my site?

i want to be able to put my www.example.com and be taken to my homepage/mainpage
instead iam taken to drupals index page how can i fix this thanks.

create a page content type that you want to be your homepage/mainpage
set this page as the default front page in administer -> site information -> default front page
i think i not explaining this right
no that didnt work^^^^^
what i mean is i want people to be able to access my website but
when they type my web address it goes to drupal index page
how can i change this so users are taken to my main page instead
people must know how to do this because all up and running drupal sites or any up and running sites
go st8 to there mainpage when you type in there web address example
http://www.gotrtriangle.org/ type this in the address bar it takes you st8 to there mainpage

Have you installed drupal successfully ?
VeryMisunderstood has clearly guided you how to do that.
All you need to do is set your mainpage to home/front/default page-- whatever.
The instructions give you
The instructions given you were correct, so the question is: What did you put in the form field at: administer -> site information -> default front page? Given that it sounds like you did put something in that text box, where are you now landing? Can't be back at the same default page.

iam not talking about changing any page within my drupal site,
my sites name is www.reco.hostei.com
when type this in the address bar and press enter to access the site
it goes to index of drupal page i need it to go to my front page
which is http://www.reco.hostei.com/drupal-6.12

Direct your url to locate http://www.reco.hostei.com/drupal-6.12.
Right now the root folder is at www.reco.hostei.com. You can change all these at your server setting. Otherway is to change the $base_url to http://www.reco.hostei.com/drupal-6.12 at default/setting.php.
