Issue Summary
Once #500044: Extend the support to different modules / form pages lands in the vertical tabs module, we can implement a step towards a prettier interface for pathauto. For now, marking as postponed since it depends on the posted issue.

This is a definite possibility, but I'm not sure that replacing collapsible fieldsets with vertical tabs is always an improvement. I think we should break apart the interface and reduce the options as a big first step on this.
#2
Yeah that's easily the much higher priority. Otherwise vertical tabs is just like...dare I say it...lipstick on a pig. *goes and hides* :)
#3
I guess this is a duplicate of #654892: Move vertical tabs summary to pathauto.module which has a patch.
#4
Nope, that issue is about the path fieldset on node edit forms. This is about adding vertical tabs to the Pathauto settings form. They should probably stay separate. :)

Meh, with the other interface improvements, at this point using vertical tabs would be like...yep...you know its coming...
