Yes-- just be sure you're using an input format that allows all the table tags-- when in doubt, use "full html".

Well that is true (fill html), but it is definitely better to add <table><tr><td> to your Filtered HTML filter at Administer › Site configuration › Input formats, configure Filtered HTML, click Configure tab (admin/settings/filters/1/configure).
