Crazy idea of mine, and feel free to dismiss it, but it seems to me that LT (LoginToboggan) and LD (Login Destination) should be one - it could even be part of the D7CX initiative.
The reason for this is most of the things I need are in LT, but I always end up installing LD for that last use case - redirection on login. If the two were one then it would be one less module for everyone to worry about and more maintainer power focussed in one place. That's my feeling anyway.
So this is a cross post from this issue: #476422: Merging Login Destination
As you can see from that thread and comment #22, the LT maintainer, hunmonk, is more than happy to consider a merge if he doesn't get left holding the baby, as the saying goes. I think this is a good idea, he's not against it, what do you think? Not worth the hassle or a good plan for LoginToboggan and Login Destination teams to join forces for D7? Love to hear what you think.

I think this is a great idea! That will be one less module to worry about, and more optimized code I believe.

@greg.harvey: +1 for merging Login Destination (LD) with LoginToboggan (LT) module.
I would add to what you said that as of 2009-Aug-30 LD module seems abandoned. But LD as some valuable features. As a proof there are currently 5,000+ websites using LD. Read more at http://drupal.org/project/usage/login_destination
Drupal webmasters have added a note in the first paragraph of LD module project page. Read more at
http://drupal.org/project/login_destination & http://drupal.org/node/552602
Because LD module seems abandoned my vote goes for going ahead with the merging. Obviously doing so without waiting for a reply from LD maintainer. Any volunteer to do that?

Merge *could* happen, but this project needs YOU! =)

just a notice - I am the new maintainer of LD. Some events in my life delayed the LD development but here I am now.

+1 for them to be merged.

I don't use LoginToboggan. I tried it, but it interfered with something else I was trying to do. What will happen to those of us who don't want to use LT, but do want LD?
Edit: Nevermind. It was the LoginToboggan themes for the user login block and/or the block provided by that module that was annoying me and I mistakenly thought I disabled it.
