'Roles' tab disappeared

I recently noticed that the 'Roles' tab on user's profiles pages has disappeared...
The permissions are still set to allow staff to assign a certain role to users, but they can't as the tab's gone.
Any ideas?

Oops, it is there, just not for me (the admin). I'm sure I used to be able to see the 'Roles' tab though...

Actually, the tab has been removed by design. It now appears only when it is not redundant with the user edit form (as mentioned here). In other words: it now appears only when the user is not allowed to access the user edit form.
Some might find this design choice questionable, but on the other hand users often get confused if they get too many alternate ways to perform the same task. Some users would also wonder why the roles get a redundant tab whereas no other user setting does...
