hello, using aquia slate.
Need the header (from images/header.png) ONLY appearing on to add somethhe front page. how can I make this happen? reletively new to drupal, but suppose i need to add something to style css?

Not sure if I understood you correctly but have you tried configuring the blocks to make the header image appear? Turn the block on and add your image inside the block or you can add direct to the css but the region you apply the css to must be turned on (see blocks again). Have you read the theme manual?
