After custom URL Alias, when editing automatic alias check box gets auto checked

jpietrowiak - July 7, 2009 - 16:13

After I disable the automatic alias setting check box on a node and place a custom URL Alias, when I go to edit the node again the automatic alias box is checked and then the node looses its custom title I originally gave it. How can this be avoided?? I messed up some URLs and need to prevent this.

Thanks for your help

This is a problem for me also

deborah64554 - August 17, 2009 - 16:53

This messed up some crucial aliases for me too. Every time I edit an aliased page that uses a non-automatic alias, it re-aliases the page to an automatic alias on save and breaks all my links.

yuck. Help?

Ensure pathauto URL aliases

sej123 - October 22, 2009 - 07:58

Ensure pathauto URL aliases (Site Building -> URL aliases -> Automated alias settings) General actions - Update action: "Do nothing. Leave the old alias intact." radio button is ticked.

That worked but

jpietrowiak - November 15, 2009 - 22:38

That worked but I wonder why they would default to that as it can really mess up someones site as it did mine and delete all my URL aliases. Can anyone tell me why they think this would be enabled as such by default?
