The Channel Nine theme has been added to the Drupal theme respository. It's a port of the "Channel Nine" theme found (by the same name) on www.openwebdesign.org. This is a 4 column layout. The theme uses the PHPTemplate engine. The theme uses the new regions available in 4.7 so it will NOT work in 4.6.

Very nice
I like that. Very nice and clean design. Probably more useful for blogs as opposed to big content sites, though.

The first column in general
The first column in general is a waste of space or the mission statement is a waste of space? You can easily remove the the mission statement from the right column by removing it from the page.tpl.php file (or just remove it in admin/settings) The first column is just another region that can hold any blocks you want. It's also pretty easy to convert this template into a 3 or 2 column layout by making minor changes to the page.tpl.php to remove the column you don't want and by then changing the width settings of the #center, #left, #right1 and #right2 ID tags in the style.css file.
