The only way is to either
The only way is to either check back or add a comment with the text "Subscribing" to that thread and then check your "Track" tab in your "My account" page for updates.
Thanks for this tip. Where is
Thanks for this tip. Where is it described that you can do this so I do it the right way, please?
The right way is to just add
The right way is to just add a comment with one word:
Subscribe.

I wouldn't actually call it the "right way", lol: http://3281d.com/2009/03/27/death-to-subscribe-comments
Yes, I meant the "accepted"
Yes, I meant the "accepted" or "normal" way. At least that's what everybody else does. I also think it's stupid but until something IS implemented here, there is no better way.
I agree it's not really a very good method. But it is the only one available today.
.
Actually, the right way is to leave a comment of substance and participate in the conversation. If you just want to lurk, most browsers have bookmark capabilities. The fact that so many people put "subscribe" comments doesn't make it right. It just means there are many people who put their own convenience above the feelings of other people on a thread who are trying to have a conversation and don't appreciate it being bumped up for empty posts.

I agree 100%. You should make
I agree 100%. You should make that post a handbook page! :)
LOL
I'd probably be lynched. I've already gotten yelled at from folks for complaining about the subscribes. Normally I don't even bother anymore but I did have to respond to seeing it being told as the "right" way since it most certainly is not. It's away around the lack of a notifications system, yes, but one that aggravates everyone else on the thread and really not an acceptable solution, even a temporary one.
Can't wait for the re-design to be done and have this problem go away forever.
