I have just been folowing a drupal book and installed apache2triad as instructed. (Running vista so it took a bit of tweaknig but its running), however i wanted to play about with the e-commerce module and the version of php included in the apache2triad package isn't up to date and so the module will not run correctly.
Is there any easy way to upgrade the version of PHP included in the apache2triad bundle as i've been having a lot of problems.
Thanks, Ben.

If the latest version of
If the latest version of apache2triad has an old version of PHP, then may be trying a different bundle like WAMP or XAMPP (from http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html :
)
might provide a quicker solution or at least an alternative.
Xampp can be set up within a few minutes. Simply place the Drupal folder in the "htdocs" folder of Xampp. Database set up is at http://localhost/phpmyadmin.
A simple search will lead you to posts dealing with using Xampp as well as WAMP, in case you you choose get no quick solution to upgrading PHP in your current package. Make sure you uninstall or disable Apache of your current package before setting up anything new.
thanks, ill give it a go! Ben

Have you been to valexa's
Have you been to valexa's forum for apache2triad? If my memory serves me correctly, there was a post on the forum from valexa (author a2triad) on how to do that update. He's no longer maintaining a2triad, unfortunately. I'm using it and fortunately, no problems but not using ecommerce module.
People have been updating a2triad...see: http://apache2triad.net/forums/viewforum.php?f=52
And I'm trying to motivate some action to get an upgraded version ... it's a nice package and I prefer it over the others..
