keith.smith commentedThis recently happened to me, and I captured a screenshot.
keith.smith commentedBump.
I feel very guilty by not being able to renew my membership. I just tried again, to no avail.
Amazon commentedHi Keith, I saw you do that.
I'll take a look. I have to figure out why the external identifier is conflicting on re-submission.
Thanks,
Kieran

keith.smith commentedI'm feeling guiltier by the minute. Can I just mail someone a check?
keith.smith commentedActually, I just bought an organizational membership for my company, which makes me feel less guilty.
avpadernoI am changing the title because, as per #568852: Still getting "External ID already exists in Database", it seems the error happens also when a user tries to register to the Drupal Association.
decibel.places commentedI am getting this error when attempting to create a first-time membership (not a renewal) at Drupal Association - I have been asked by KiamLaLuno to post on this thread.
I've reported this before, specifically to Kieran as well
Trying to create an individual membership, I get the error: External ID already exists in Database.
at URL http://association.drupal.org/civicrm/contribute/transact
my uid is 58977
I do not find my listing in the members database

kurund commentedLooks like a bug in CiviCRM, hence filed: http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-5094
Comment #10
deviantintegral commentedI've applied the patch from #9 to the stage site, and it seems to fix the issue. @decibel.places, I'll post here when we've updated the live site so you can try to register again, if you haven't all ready done it.
decibel.places commentedI was able to process the individual membership payment form with no problems - thanks
