Need help configuring LAMP and installing Drupal in Boston area

malancheril - July 8, 2009 - 16:57

Hi there,
I am looking for someone for a smallish project. My employer is in Mansfield but I work remotely in Washington State. We have a Dell machine allocated to be a departmental server. The IT department has installed a LAMP stack (Red Hat) but they are not Linux experts so don't know much about configuration. They have no experience with Drupal. So the project summary is this:

1. Project needs to be done on site (this is a requirement from my IT department).
2. Configure the LAMP stack for optimal use by Drupal.
3. Install Drupal.
4. Write basic documentation/guidelines for maintenance and upgrades.

I will be doing the maintenance. I have experience managing/installing/upgrading Drupal but it was through a hosted service. I have no knowledge of LAMP administration (and unfortunately don't have time to learn). So I am not sure exactly how much documentation will be required but if you contact me, we can review the gaps in my knowledge.

Thanks,

Mat

I can help with this project

Greetings,

I can help you with this project but I cannot be on site. Is there any reason this cannot be done remotely? I have setup Linux servers on the other side of the world without having to be on site.

Please let me know at your earliest convenience.

Regards,

Just a requirement from IT.

Just a requirement from IT. If I can not find someone who can come in, I'll look at other alternatives, potentially moving the server outside the firewall.

Server Firewalling

You do not have to move the server outside the firewall. You can allow specific IP addresses through the firewall to which ever servers or devices you may have behind the firewall.

I would suggest not moving the server outside of the firewall when a simple firewall rule can allow remote access to specifically whoever you wish.

Depending on the budget and timeline...

I can help with this project.

I'm in Baltimore and a short train ride from being onsite to Boston. I'm VERY well versed in Red Hat LAMP and use Drupal regularly. I will be in India until Aug 1 but can help after that. I can be onsite personally and we have developers in US and India that are very good.

which redhat version you are

njbhatt - July 10, 2009 - 21:41

which redhat version you are using? is it Redhat Enterprise Server 5? then LAMP setup is very easy. you can configure LAMP at the time of installation.

After installing LAMP, just put your drupal folder in /var/www/html, that is default document root of apache and you can see your drupal is working.
