I have created a container and a child catygory I enable content type page but the page will not show up on category.

Did you assign your page to your category?

If I understand, you created a container, and configured it to accept "page" content type. Then, You created a category with that container as parent. If you want a "page" post to appear in the category, you need to choose that category while editing your page, so that it belongs inside the category. Also, try to configure all settings of your container in a sensible way (especially while using Category Display).

It would be useful to post more info here, if you still have the problem.

yes I did assign the page too taht category.

when I disable the display then I can see the page in the category but I need the display module

Then it's most probably a problem with configuration - go to the container page, edit it, open "Container information" fieldset, and check the Display settings - in particular whether you have "show content listings" enabled (or similar, I don't remember the exact label).

Note that these settings might be hidden, if you have generated menu links disabled - so enable them, and see what appears in the Display section. After you've set everything (before saving the container edit), you can disable menu links again, if you don't want them.

BTW - the Category Display defaults are really awful, I've an issue, somewhere, to fix that. You can look at #158598: Category port for Drupal 6.x for an overview of proposed fixes pending. But you should be able to configure Category Display without that, too.
